Saheli club organised Diwali Party for its members on 28th October 2017 in the heart of South West Sydney at Hemani Mehmi Restaurant in Liverpool. Keeping up with the tradition of Saheli Club, it was a small and intimate family party with members, their spouses and kids in attendance.
The theme was pink, October being Breast cancer awareness month, and you could see all shades of pink in the room.
Guests were ushered in a aesthetically decorated function centre with flowers and diyas, a distinct Diwali feel. All guests were welcomed in a traditional way with our little divas Gia and Siman putting a tilak on forehead followed by sweets. Each guest family were given a Diwali gift as is part of the festival.
The club has a tradition of involving its members in all its activities and this evening was no different. The night kicked off with a dance performance by 4 little Sahelis, Bani, Amisha, Siman and Kiran. It was heartening to see the next generation performing on a Bollywood medley. It was followed by a duet beautifully sung by our Saheli Usha Thirumeni and her husband. The melodious song set the tone for the night and was followed by games for the kids. A ravishing performance by Smeeta and Steffi was appreciated by everyone in the hall. Through out the night, the guests were kept engaged with Tambola and fun games like musical chairs. There was ample fun and laughter all around and everyone hit the dance floor after dinner to end the night on a high!
The executive team would like to thank all those who contributed in any way possible to make the event an enjoyable one.
A big shout out to Vinti Anand for designing the Tambola cards just the way we had envisaged. Thank you Vinti, the cards were a great hit !! A massive thanks to our DJ Gurtaj Singh for filling the air with foot tapping music. The musical chair was very musical indeed !! A very special thanks to Shamandeep Chawla, who selflessly assisted with the Photo Booth props. They captured the mood of the evening very well !!
