Come along and celebrate Harmony Day at Ashfield’s Carnival of Cultures 2015 at Ashfield Park on Sunday 22 March from 10am to 4pm.
The Mayor of Ashfield, Lucille McKenna OAM said the carnival is Ashfield Council’s premier community event which attracts thousands of visitors for a day of fun and entertainment for the whole family.
“This year’s Carnival is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever,” Mayor McKenna said. “There will be performances across two stages featuring Emma Donovan & the Putbacks, King Tide, roving performances, international food, market and community stalls, art and sustainability workshops and free children’s activities including pony rides, jumping castle and a giant slide.
“We will also be holding a Citizenship Ceremony and cultural and musical performances from local groups as well as a free native plant giveaway for local residents (with proof of address).
“I would encourage local residents to come along to Ashfield Park to enjoy all the free entertainment and activities on offer throughout the day and to celebrate Harmony Day with our wonderfully diverse and vibrant local community,” she said.
Public transport is encouraged as parking is limited. People are being encouraged to catch the free, accessible shuttle bus from Ashfield Mall or cycle to the Carnival and use the free secure bike parking.
