In a format different from the customary celebrations at the Consul General’s residence, the 66th Republic Day of India was celebrated by the Sydneysiders at Concord Function Centre in Sydney.
The Flag hoisting ceremony which took place at 9.15 am was attended by the Indian community from different walks of life. A feeling of solidarity and being home away from home was prevalent as everyone gathered under one roof and shared the spirit of patriotism.
The Consul General of India in Sydney, Mr Sanjay Sudhir, read the Indian President’s address to the Nation as part of the agenda. People also enjoyed patriotic songs and watched the screening of video on ‘Clean Ganga Fund’. The gathering provided a welcome opportunity to mingle and get to know fellow Indians over refreshments that were served after the event.
