Someone has rightly said that “if the poor cannot go the education then education should go to the poor” and the Sydney youth has contributed their bit to make this happen.
Ekal Youth Australia (EYA) and Desi Online Magazine (www.desi.com.au) brought together their signature Youth Bollywood Night event ‘Rhythm of Bollywood’ on Saturday – 21st March 2015. This was their third year and the event was big as always. Dressed up in blingy Sarees and Sherwanis, our Desi Australian youth danced the night away on the beats of DJ Dimple- Pioneer Indian DJ of Australia and celebrated the Indian cultural spirit. It was great to see the young generation enjoying this non-alcohlic dance party and at the same time making a difference to the less privileged kids of rural India. Adding to the drama and glamour were the performances by Sydney‘s major dance groups like Mayur Indian Dance Academy, Cheryl Khurana Performing Arts, Shiamak, Mystik Bollywood, and Ministry of Bhangra. Those Bollywood thumkas looked fabulous on Shakira and Beyonce numbers.
Ekal Youth Australia (EYA) which is the youth wing of the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of Australia which aims to raise funds for creating awareness for developing one-teacher schools in rural parts of India. EYA consists of 20 dedicated volunteers who are all very passionate about bringing together the young South-East Asian community to celebrate their cultural roots whilst making a difference for the uneducated children of India. Raising funds through this fun night, they do their part of eliminating the illiteracy that is present in India. So far EYA has raised enough money to sponsor 8 schools. The teams from Desi Online Magazine and Desi Entertainment Productions have been a solid foundation of support from the very beginning. This year the event sponsors were SMG Accounting Services, Tax Wealth Accountants, Blue Sky Immigration, Decor-A-Shaan, Taj Indian Sweets and Restaurant and Glenwood Dental Care. We wish this good cause celebration is continued for many more years.
For us it was a big bang Bollywood night. We truly enjoyed this one!
