Bollywood descended on Canberra as Australia’s national capital was the location for “Salt Bridge” the latest film starring International heart-throb Rajeev Khandelwal, India’s Best Actress Usha Jadhav and Logie and AACTA award winner Chelsie Preston Crayford.
The picturesque national capital – ranked by the OECD as the best place to live in the world, is the location for this poignant and engaging social drama highlighting the experiences of migrants from the Indian subcontinent in Australia. Themes of the culture shocks that exist within and outside the close-knit expat Indian community of “Salt Bridge”, ostracism, redemption and friendship play out against the backdrop of Canberra’s landscape and culture.
The established Indian stars are joined by local talent in both cast and crew. “Salt Bridge” will be in the Hindi language and will have a wide release and further enhance Canberra’s growing reputation as a key location for film and television in Australia.
Bollywood heartthrob Rajeev Khandelwal whose latest film credits include Fever, Aamir, DOA death of Amar, Samrat & Co, Table No 21 is joined by India’s Best Actress 2012, Usha Jadhav Dhag, Bhootnath Returns, Traffic Light and NZ born actor Chelsie Preston Crayford who won a Logie for her role as Tilly Devine in the TV series Underbelly: Razor and most recently starred in the Australian techno-thriller The Code a role which earned her an AACTA award.
The film is written and directed by Canberra based Abhijit Deonath. Australian Miguel Gallagher is Director of Photography and Surabhi Singh whose recent work includes popular Bollywood films Besharam and Dabangg is Associate Director.
