Changing Trends

September 1, 2014

What to write about this month is something I agonise about each time I start to do this. What would interest my readers? maybe that is what I need to see more of – feedback, your requests, your questions….wether I talk about new make up products? my reviews of these products etc. Anyway I leave this to my readers to tell me.

I have been writing for Desi Australia’s online magazine for over six months and even though my angst each month is about what to write initially, after its done I feel satisfaction on sharing my knowledge as I find make up is an art. I find my articles are actually monthly blogs as they are my personal expression.

So this month I accepted an invite to attend a blogging seminar on fashion and make up at Macquarie University and met up with bloggers and vloggers who write on fashion and beauty and have a healthy number of followers from their blogs, Instagram. We are getting influenced more by what we find online to listen and read. We are finding a connection by seeing these people showing us “how to’s” when its about make up and hair styles. Magazine editors realise the change in digital media and if you were to pick a magazine from 5-10 years ago, you will find paper editions are going down in size and the digital versions are offering lot more content with lesser prices.

I find myself following the beauty blogs/vlogs but do I follow and take on every product that I read about on beauty? The answer is no, not every product is going to be the holy grail as claimed by the vlogger. Try it before you buy it is what I believe in. Sample products, be it from the Myer/David Jones beauty counters or beauty products sold in places like Price Line/pharmacies.

Big sell brands like MAC, Napoleon Perdis have their own stores and Inglot too is coming out with more stores in Westfield’s.

Mecca Maxima are opening stores around the country and with the prospect of Sephora opening its store in Pitt St mall in December 2014, Mecca Maxima has been dropping its prices and products that were not available in Australia before are finally being sold over beauty counters where you can feel/try the product before you buy. Ask for a sample as the price on these products are not your Kmart/Price Line prices.

Interested in knowing more about brands like Too Faced, NARS, Smashbox, Stila, Bare Minerals…look out for my September blog. I will be talking out what the products that I use on myself and my clients. School formal season gets in swing from September where school formals are either being held in this month or November. I have a special offer for the girls after hair and make up for their school formals.
