Indian community of Sydney, organised a farewell dinner for His Excellency Arun Goel (Consul General of India in Sydney)and Mrs Alka Goel at The Grand Marion, Harris Park. The dinner was attended by representatives of different community organisations and Parliamentarians, including Hon.David Clarke MLC NSW, Dr Jeff Lee MP, Mayor of Parramatta John Chedid, Councillor of Strathfield Mr Raj Datta, Councillor of Hornsby Gurdeep Singh, Ex Councillor Mr Dilip Chopra.
The evening started with singing of Australian National Anthem followed by Indian National Anthem .A short Video presentation was shown depicting the term of Mr Arun Goel as the CG of India in Sydney.
The Hon. David Clarke MLC Said that Mr Goel and his wife were highly respected in the diplomatic community and it is sorry to see them going from Australia.
Mr Arun Goel said that he and his wife Alka have been touched by this gesture and thanked everyone who took time out to come and say good bye to them. He said that they are leaving sydney with a heavy heart and fond memories. He said that though his tenure was very short ( less than 2 years in sydney but it has been very rewarding and satisfying personally.
Mr Goel was presented with the momentum and bouquet. We wish him all the very best for future.
