Born in Germany to an artist father who chanted the sacred Gayatri mantra at her birth, Deva Premal seems to have been born on a bed of musical notes with her mother being a classical musician. Deva was raised chanting mantras through her childhood and later rediscovered them in her late teens. Since then she has integrated them into her life and continues to inspire thousands with her soulful interpretations of these sacred prayers.
Destined to be Deva’s partner in Love, life, music & spirituality, Miten was born in London and spent his formative years as a musician in the UK rock scene where he recorded albums with The Kinks, and toured with Fleetwood Mac, Lou Reed and others. He discovered meditation in India and spent many years at the feet of his Guru, Osho. For the past 20 years he has travelled with his beloved partner, Deva Premal, sharing his love of life through his uplifting and earthy spiritual music.

Deva Premal & Miten began their journey into love and music in 1990 when they met while studying meditation at an ashram in India. Their worldwide concerts and best- selling albums have since introduced millions in the West to the power of ancient Sanskrit mantras.
Deva and Miten’s music transcends all the usual cultural boundaries, receiving accolades from such luminaries as best-selling author Eckhart Tolle; “…Pure magic…!” Hollywood rock icon and Grammy award winning actress Cher has recorded and performed their music and cites The Essence as “My favourite CD for yoga.”
In the mean time, let’s talk about the Nepalese bansuri maestro Manose who began his musical journey with a rigorous training in classical Indian raga, paradoxically, while playing in his country’s most popular rock band 1974AD. Later, in America, he introduced the sound of the bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) to many musical genres, from jazz and bluegrass to Celtic.

Deva Premal, Miten & Manose
For the past 7 years Manose has toured non-stop with Deva Premal & Miten, and is featured on many of their albums, where he not only contributes his stunning virtuosity, but also contributes and collaborates on many compositions. He is especially featured Deva Premal’s 2011 release, Password.
An integral part of the ‘Music being the food for the soul’ team, keyboard wizard Maneesh de Moor also joins the 2013 tour in Europe and the USA. Born in the Netherlands, Maneesh’s intuitive keyboard playing merges seamlessly with Deva and Miten’s concerts, where he adds piano, bass and atmospheric elements to their blend of mantras, chants and gentle songs from the heart.
One of my all time favourite music is the ‘Password’
This enchanting album from the pioneer of Western mantra singing, Deva Premal, is a landmark in the genre. Entitled Password, the album was recorded with singer/writer/guitarist and life partner Miten and Nepalese bansuri maestro Manose, in Copenhagen, at the conclusion of their 2010 world tour.

Deva Premal, Miten & Manose
Password marks an exciting new direction in the trio’s unique blending of East and West, embedding the extraordinary energy carried by ancient mantras into a rich fusion of sound and silence.
The material, mostly self-composed by the trio, features Deva’s golden voice, and the incredible virtuosity of Manose’s bansuri (Indian bamboo flute). Guided by Miten and The Essence producer RajRishi, the album journeys through sparkling soundscapes embellished by some of Europe’s best young jazz musicians. The result is a haunting, seductive invitation to embrace a new and refreshing perspective on a style that is fast becoming essential listening for those looking for depth and spiritual nourishment in music.
“As you listen to the music of Deva and Miten, the sacred space that lies beyond the mind emerges naturally and effortlessly. Pure magic”, Eckhart Tolle (author of A new earth)
By now I am sure that you are yearning to listen to the music that opens the doorway to bliss.
