Free self-defence workshop offered in Parramatta after the murder of IT worker Prabha Arun Kumar

March 24, 2015

While the police is still searching for the clues into the murder of IT worker Prabha Arun Kumar, worried community members can sign up for free self-defence workshops in Parramatta.

Urban Survival is a series of FREE to Community self-defence workshops that are run in any of our venues throughout our regions after Ms Kumar was killed walking home from work across Parramatta Park about 9.30pm on Saturday, March 7.

Senior instructor Kurt Colpan of martial arts school Krav Maga said the school was devastated to hear the news about Ms Kumar’s death.

“We used to train in that park a lot. We were quite aware that it was a dangerous pathway.”

Mr Colpan said the attack had prompted the school to find a “way to give back” to the community through holding the free workshop.

He said it wasn’t just physical skills that were important, but learning to be aware of your surroundings.
