“Serving Without Boundaries”
GNFKS’ Dinner Drive to celebrate Indian Independence day was held on 16th of August at Philip Street, Martin place Sydney.
Every month on a Saturday evening hundreds of homeless and street people gather at Martin Place for a free meal(Langar) served by the proud team of volunteers of Guru Nanak Free Kitchenette Sydney, who prepare and serve the food to them. GNFKS consists of volunteers working feverishly to get all of the work done.
Their TEAM consists of people with different cultural backgrounds and with the people from different nationalities working together to accomplish a common goal- "Serving without Boundaries". They have Indians, Nepalese, Fiji Indians, Australians and Chinese as the members in their organization. Almost everything the organization uses is donated — food, sweets, drinks, juices, milk, tea and coffee that are handed out and the most precious thing out of all is the– ‘time’ donated by our passionate volunteers. Even the heavy rains could not dampen their spirits rather it made it stronger.
GNFKS thanks all the sponsors and volunteers (Grace of India, Taaza Tandoori, Cheap & Fresh, Hope International, Minto Cellars, Woodville cellars, Maharaja Haveli, Amar Singh aka Fully Sikh, RubanSohana, GaganBindra, NeetuBindra, Jaswanti Patel, AnjanaRegmi, Kamini Raj Singh, Surinder Kaur Dolly, Amarjit Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, SundeepVij, PunkajVij, Guneeta Kaur, SatpalDhingra, Kashmiri LalDhingra, Gaurav Kapoor, Agam Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Paul McKenzie, Gurdeep Singh,Harleen Kaur, Kulwinder Kaur) and many others that made this dinner drive a great success.
