Child Abuse Squad detectives have laid fresh charges against a gymnastics instructor and sports medicine specialist for the alleged indecent assault of a second teenage boy.
The 43-year-old man, who provided gymnastics instruction and sports medicine at Gladesville and Olympic Park, as well as private instruction, was arrested in December 2014 and charged with two counts of indecent assault relating to alleged offences against a 14-year-old boy during a sports massage.
Detectives have since been advised of alleged offences against a second boy, aged 13, during a sports massage late last year. Police will allege the assault was filmed without the child’s knowledge.
Detectives subsequently laid additional charges of indecent assault and use child under 14 to make child abuse material.
The man remains in custody to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 26 February 2015).
Child Abuse Squad detectives are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information that may be able to assist to come forward.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect. The squad works with the Department of Family and Community Services and NSW Health.
