Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is expected to play competitive cricket in Australia. Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Brian Lara are also expected to join him in Australia.
Yuvraj Singh will come back to the cricket field as he will play competitive cricket in Australia this year. The Mulgrave Cricket Club has declared that it will sign up Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle for few T20 matches. The club is also in discussions with Brian Lara and AB de Villiers. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga have already said yes.
“We’ve secured Dilshan, we’ve secured Sanath, we’ve secured Tharanga. And now we are working on finalising agreements with a few other potential players. We are in negotiations, and with Chris (Gayle) and Yuvraj, we are nearly 85 to 90 per cent there. We need to finalise a few things, but it looks really good.” as stated by the club’s president Milan Pullenayegam.
Yuvraj, who had retired from international cricket in 2019, has performed only in a few games since leaving international cricket. He moved to Canada after his retirement and practised his trade in Global T20 Canada. He also played T10 league. Yuvraj was also in talks to play Big Bash League, which didn’t happen. Not one Indian player has played Big Bash League so far.
In 2021, Yuvraj entered India Legends for the Road Safety Series as a part of Sachin Tendulkar’s team, which won the tournament. Since then, he has played for foreign leagues. Yuvraj can’t make his return to IPL because of this reason.
There were rumours that Yuvraj was looking to come back to the Punjab cricket team. But the BCCI refused to support as Yuvraj has played abroad leagues. De Villiers and Lara, both have quit international cricket. De Villiers remains to play IPL while Lara led West Indies Legends in the Road Safety Series.
