The day started with announcing the winners of the Western Union Short film competition winners. There were 162 entries from which 22 were short listed and finally 3 were chosen. One each from India, Nz.
The press conference for the Indian Film festival of Melbourne had the famous personalities from Bollywood – Vidhya Balan the Festival Ambassador, Simi Grewal the member of the advisory board, kabir khan the director of the movie Ek Tha Tiger and also one of the judges of the short film competition, the dancing guru Prabhu Deva, the new comer Girish Taurani who is doing his debut film Ramaia Vastavaiya and the choreographer Farah Khan. When asked if Vidhya Balan likes cooking, she said yes she likes to cook stories.
The IFF was opened by the Festival Ambassador Vidhya Balan and was attended by all the guests from Bollywood along with Pamela Chopra the wife of late Sri Yash Raj Chopra. The Q & A session with the stars was fun. To celebrate the 100 years of Indian Cinema the Festival was opened with the screening of India’s first feature film Raja Harish Chandra, which was publicly screened in Bombay on May 3rd 1913. This silent movie was accompanied by the Live Music.
