1. The UN declared June 21 as “The International Yoga Day” on December 2014. This was in response to the call for adoption of this day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UNGA last September.
2. A Logo for International Yoga Day was launched by Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, Minister for External Affairs and Mr. Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for AYUSH on April 29, 2015. The Logo reflects the harmony and peace for humanity, which is the essence of Yoga. Folding of both hands in the logo, symbolize Yoga, the Union, which reflects the union of individual consciousness with that of universal consciousness, a perfect harmony between mind & body, man & nature; a holistic approach to health & well being. The brown leaves symbolizes the Earth element, the green leaves symbolize the Nature, blue symbolizes the Water element, brightness symbolizes the Fire element and the sun symbolize the source of Energy and Inspiration.
3. Consulate General of India, Sydney will organize an event to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 in Sydney. The event will comprise of a video message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demonstration of Yoga Asanas, and lecture on Yoga & Ayurveda, followed by Satvic lunch. Registration is essential to book seats. The event is FREE.
