A man will appear in court today after allegedly assaulting a police officer and obstructing traffic in the Sydney CBD yesterday.
About 4.30pm (Thursday 19 February 2015), members of the public raised concerns about the behaviour of a man on the road, near the intersection of Bridge and Pitt streets in the CBD.
An officer from the Motorcycle Response Team was called to the incident and began speaking with the man.
It is alleged the man became abusive towards the officer, and after several minutes, he allegedly assaulted the officer.
The police officer deployed his OC spray.
The man, aged 33 years, was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.
He was charged with assaulting police, obstructing traffic, offensive behaviour and language.
The man was refused bail, to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 20 February 2015).
No one was injured during the incident.
