PM Modi’s address to Business and Community Leaders in Melbourne

Australia India Business Council and Australia India Institute organised PM address to the high profile business leaders across Australia. The event was hosted at the Government House, Victoria

Governor of Victoria Alex Chernov hosted the chief executives’ roundtable during which PM Modi along with the visiting Indian leaders interacted with the who’s who of the Australian industry and business houses. Top Australian business leaders, including Visy Industries global chairman Anthony Pratt, BHP Billiton CEO Mackenzie, Rio Tinto (Australia) MD Phil Edmands and HSBC Bank (Australia) CEO Cripps, logistics entrepreneur Lindsay Fox attended the roundtable. The meeting was also attended by almost 20 top Indian industry leaders including Chairman of Essar Group Shashi Ruia, Gautam Adani of Adani group, Anand Mahindra of Mahindra Group, BP Rao of BHEL and Vishal Sikka of Infosys Ltd.

In a speech to about 450 business and community leaders, including cricketers Glen McGrath and Steve Waugh, Mr Modi said that India and Australia were both "strong and resilient economies.
He said that sometimes the problems come to us so we can become more stronger and more disciplined and he sees the Global economic scenario in that spirit.
Mr Modi said he expected the "large and growing" Indian community in Australia would help build links between the two countries. He also drew attention to how several Indian companies are making significant investments in the Australian mining sector,

Mr Modi said that India has 3 things to its credit- Democracy Demographics, Demand and , we are trying to harness this strength through good governance. The govt has begun by trusting its people and businesses greatest strength is that the 65% f population is below 35 years of age. He said no one can question the talent of Indian youth after the achievement of Mars orbital mission.
"We greatly value our relationship with Australia," he said. "We need your partnership."
At the end he thanked the Australian PM ,government and dignitaries for the love, respect and hospitality they gave .While parting he invited everyone to India and said with confidence that presently we will have the best time in India.
