Sydney Kannada Sangha www.kannada.org.au held its event “Nrithya Gana Manjari” on 11th May 2013 evening at Redgum Function Centre, Wentworthville. The official program was started by the Secretary Mr.Dakshinamurthy Anjanappa. The MC of the program was Mrs. Anu Shivaram. Chief guest of the program was Mr.Muddu Krishna from India. Mr.Muddu Krishna is Rt. Director of Kannada and Culture Department, Karnataka Government. Apart from being the Chief guest, Mr.Muddu Krishna along with popular singer Seema Raikar entertained the audience with their melodious light music. Mr. D.Ravi from India on Keyboard, Mr.Pramod on Tabla and Mr.Saravannan on Rhythm pad kept the music flowing. Smt.Nikhila Kirans’s Natyanivedan group presented a series of fabulous classical Bharathanatya dances involving artists of all ages.
Earlier in the evening the colourful event started off with the final round of Anthakshari. Due to huge popularity, the event had multiple rounds enjoyed by one and all. The competition was very fierce and finally SPB team won the challenge while Triveni team ended up being runner up. Speaking during the formal session, President of SKS, Mr.Vijay Halagali promised to continue the Anthakshari competition every year.
The Other major attraction of the evening was the performance of Live band by Sydney Arts. Mrs.Vidya, Mr.Bala, Rajesh Hegde and their troupe entertained the audience with variety of Kannada Songs.
Mr.Diwakar Herle, Young Jay Hegde along with the group entertained the audience with a glimpse of Yakshagana. Many other singers exhibited their talent with their devotional and movie songs.
Mr. Kumar Madappa representing UIA President Mr.Amarinder Bajwa congratulated Sydney Kannada Sangha for giving such a wonderful program and he urged the spectators to attend the upcoming India Australia Friendship Fair. Program was concluded by the vote of thanks by the Vice President Smt. Smitha Karki.
