Sport plays an integral role in Australian culture and society. Sport is the perfect platform for young boys and girls to meet new friends, improve their mental and physical well-being, as well as help build their confidence, leadership and communication skills which all play an integral role in everyday life.
According to the Health Direct ‘’Playing sport helps children learn to control their emotions and channel negative feelings in a positive way. It also helps children to develop patience and understand that it can take a lot of practice to improve both their physical skills and what they do in school.’’
If you are looking to enrol your child/children into local sport, but don’t know where to begin, we strongly encourage you to consider our Junior Australian Sports Program. Our 8-week multi-sport program is a safe, inclusive and fun way to engage everybody between the ages of 4 to 12 to participate in sport. We welcome participants of all skill levels to meet new friends, learn and refine skills and gain tips and tricks along the way from our qualified and accredited coaches. The Junior Australian Sports Program is also ‘Active Kids Voucher’ approved, which is a great way to utilise your vouchers!
We are blessed to live in a country with so many options and opportunities for young boys and girls to participate in sport. We are extremely fortunate that many local sport clubs and associations have lifelong, dedicated volunteers helping to drive their sport and create positive change within their local communities.
Identifying a particular sport that your child may like can be a challenge. It’s important to encourage participation and enjoyment as the forefront of their experience, particularly if your child is experiencing a new sport for the first time, and that is why the Junior Australian Sports Program is such a great option.
According to Sport Diplomacy 2030 – Australian Government ‘’Australia is recognised the world over as a high performing and passionate sporting nation. Sport is deeply embedded in our culture and identity. Australians love to play, watch, volunteer and excel in sport at all levels – within our own communities, across Asia and the Pacific, and on the global stage. Every year 11 million Australian adults and 3 million children participate in sport. Some 8 million Australians attend live sporting events’’.
The Junior Australian Sports Program involves the following sports: Football/Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Hockey, Touch Football, AFL, Netball & Volleyball. This provides a wonderful opportunity to try a number of key Australian sports and identifying what your child/children like the most, before committing to a full season.
We spoke with Nicholas Toscan, Director at the Australia International Sports Organisation who said “The Junior Australian Sports Program is a fantastic program for young boys and girls. With multi-sport opportunities available in a safe, inclusive and fun environment, it provides a wonderful opportunity for your children to participate in sport. Our team of coaches are all qualified and accredited and are always striving to deliver the highest quality program. Being an Active Kids Voucher approved program has allowed our organisation to provide sporting access and opportunities’ to all members of the community and we’re looking forward to delivering more wonderful programs in the future”
Sport in Australia is a great way to meet your local community, build life-long friendships and improve your child’s mental and physical wellbeing, which will enhance their social and communication skills and we look forward to seeing you at a Junior Australian Sports Program near you.
